Energy and Renewable: Machine Learning for the Power Grid

Eine ProoV-Fallstudie · Lernprojekt, kein Arbeitsverhältnis
Built a leakage-aware turbine yield predictor end to end: framed TEY as the target, excluded downstream CO/NOx emissions, trained a LinearRegression baseline and a RandomForest model, and validated on a locked-away later time period. Reported honest held-out MAE, RMSE, and R2, then translated the result into a concise model card and manager-friendly summary with clear limits and failure conditions.

- Correctly excluded CO and NOx as downstream emissions and explicitly justified the exclusion.
- Used an earlier-period training split and locked away later data for testing instead of a random shuffle.
- Compared a LinearRegression baseline to a RandomForest and showed a clear held-out MAE improvement.
- Checked residual behavior and noted a positive residual mean / underprediction at higher load.
- Leakage-Free Feature Selection
- Time-Based Model Validation
